Switzerland may be a county known for its watches, but perhaps none quite like this. This new watch uses distinct, individual vein recognition from a person’s wrist as a form of identification. In this way, it provides secure and seamless authentication to your devices, services and premises.

The BioWatch is taking a watch and transforming it into an ID hub, replacing the need for badges, cards, keys and passwords, pin codes and biometrics. The device will typically link via an app with a person’s car or motorbike to prevent theft, as well as allowing fast passage through company security gates. It also enables couples to share a car key virtually.

Cybersecurity companies saw a record number of funding deals in 2017, with a key area being within Identity Management. As the number of cyber attacks rise, the need to secure and authenticate data associated with identity is paramount.

BioWatch have raised $2.4m since the company was founded in 2015. Investors include FIT and Polytech Ventures. BioWatch also took part in the MassChallenge accelerator program, and recently won Global Pitch, a global online pitching competition.
